Hello Ladies!

What an amazing combined BPW Eustis and Mount Dora meeting we had last night, April 9 2007, at Lake Receptions in Mount Dora.  The location and meeting room with it's regal decor and elegant table setting, accommodated our professional meeting perfectly.  It featured:  a flag and stand, podium with a cordless mic, and exceptional wait staff featuring a chorus of servers at the buffet.  The menu was yummy and consisted of: Chicken Cordon Bleu, Stuffed filet of Sole, Steamed California blend vegetables, Traditional mashed potatoes, etc….  There were over 35-members and guest in attendance.  We also installed 2-members, Marie Kiser, President of "Just-Us-Girls” networking group, and Clara Schneider, Owner of Em's on Fifth in Mount Dora.  Welcome ladies to our sisterhood!

The agenda was JAMMED packed. Begining with a few business items, then we took some time out and recognized our fellow BPW sister Eliza who celebrated her 79th Birthday, as well as myself, 34.  Debbie M. made a FABULOUS homemade Red Velvet Cake for all to enjoy.  The significance of the red cake also carried over to the theme of the night, reminding us of two of our Policy Issues: the "Wear Red" campaign for women and cardiovascular disease, and the "Red Purse" campaign for Equal Pay.  Members were invited to WEAR RED and carry a RED PURSE (or briefcase).

Keeping to theme, the BPW Rainbow, red and blue, Carol Richardson prepared an eloquent speech and installed the 2007-2008 BPW Eustis and Mount Dora Officers.  At the helm for BPW Eustis, for a 2nd term, Cyndie Royce.  For BPW Mount Dora, I passed over the reigns to ....the Past LO President, and Past-BPW-Florida-State President, Shirley Grantham.  With enthusiasm and great energy Shirley took over the mic (limited to 2-minutes...?) and presented the goals for this up-coming year.  With her wealth of knowledge and incredible ability to rally up support from all those around her, OUR LOCAL BPW ORGANIZATIONS WILL SHINE BRIGHT!   Thank You Cyndie and Shirley for leading us for 2007-2008.  We are all looking forward to a full year of professionally, politically and personally growth!

The night ended with a little interactive BPW game of Jeopardy hosted Nancy Hulbert.  We all learn a little more about diversity covering topics such as:  women in the military, generation-x-ers, the history of black women, Hispanic women, retirees and women’s health.  Thank you Nancy.   Last but not least Eliza, our “birthday girl”, won the 50/50 drawing.

I hope all that attend enjoyed the meeting, and I look forward to many new faces next time.  See you all next month!

Sincerely,
Mimi Duthilleul
Immediate Past BPW/Mount Dora LO President.
